Evidence source and scope

Yen HC, Luh JJ, Teng T, Pan GS, Chen WS, Hsun CC, et al. Reliability of lower extremity muscle strength measurements with handheld dynamometry in stroke patients during the acute phase: a pilot reliability study. Journal of physical therapy science. 2017;29(2):317. DOI 10.1589/jpts.29.317

This note indexes a cited or audit-added source. It may be an original study, review, guideline, form or methods reference. Treat the specific design and the evidence below as authoritative; a source note is not automatically a primary study.

Scoped audit evidence

These are source- and component-level audit summaries as of 3 October 2026. Access and comparison scope can differ by report; none certifies every result or the underlying raw data.

Stroke

15 acute patients; selected for commands and selective movement; supine hip 45°, knee 90°, ankle 10° plantarflexion; three trials and next-day repeat. Table 2 tester-1 knee data yield pooled SD 14.70415 lb, not 4.31. With rounded ICC .85 the stated formula gives SEM 5.69489 and MDC 95 15.78544 lb, versus reported 4.60. Report correctly withholds this as a deployable threshold.

Source locator: Subjects and Methods; Table 1; Results Tables 2 and 3

Limitations: Recalculation uses printed rounded individual values and ICC, so it is a reporting-consistency check and not a replacement clinical threshold.
